Resist

“I can only tell you what I know in my own heart to be true: That every generation has its fight; every generation has its time to resist. The madness we face now is not new, but this time, it is our madness. Time is like the tide, it is endless and cyclical. The waves never stop, just as the assaults on freedom are ongoing. They may be small, lapping at the shore, or they may be great tsunamis of destruction, but we must not fail to defend against them. The tide is a powerful thing, but we can each make a difference in our own time, strengthening the breakwaters and piling sandbags, and in so doing, we give hope and strength to those who come after us. I know that for you, right now, words are empty, but I believe in my heart that the right words can make all the difference. They are ideas, knowledge, and as the Bard says, ‘Ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven.'”
