Speaking Engagements

Public speaking is one of my favorite parts of the writing life. I enjoy sharing my passion for putting words on paper with readers and writers of all ages. Some of my favorite topics are:

* My Writing Life (Includes a short slide show. Good for grade school audience.)
* Writing Historical Fiction
* Researching Historical Fiction
* "Where do you get your ideas?" Turning daily experience into story.
* I've just been told to write a short story; where do I start? (for high school and college students)

I will gladly do writing workshops with older students — eighth grade through grad school — and with adults interested in writing for children.

I'm also open to tailoring my presentation to your needs. I love being challenged to think about something new!

I have given presentations to large and small school groups from grade school through high school, in person and via video conference. I've also spoken to teachers groups, writers groups, children's book writers conferences, church groups, parent organizations, and college and university classes.

My rates vary depending on type of presentation and distance from my home in Western Massachusetts. E-mail me for details and we'll see what we can work out!
